The company Livellara was founded in Gorizia in 1923. These are the first years after the First World War and profound changes are taking place in society. La Livellara was born as a trading company with activities and interest in household items, with particular attention to porcelain, which will always remain a great love, and glass imported from Czechoslovakia. In this way, the company imposed itself on the Italian market, using that seriousness that still characterizes it today. With the emergence of self-sufficient principles in Italy, Livellara had to resort to national sources of supply in the period before the Second World War. Thus they became a customer for the exclusive production of Muranesi Conterie and Cristallerie. With the end of the war and the recovery of the economy, Livellara got into serious difficulties to reconnect with the Czechoslovak glassworks, which had no part of the glass and were in a great crisis. The Livellara Company, losing a large part of its stocks, first rents and immediately buys after the Conterie Muranesi. We are in 1946: the moment in which the design philosophy of the company is established and codified: the production of a crystal different from the traditional English or Bohemian crystal, a process based on the hand of man, not on the machine, a " light" crystal, airy, often worked in thin thicknesses, a crystal influenced and always influenced by a processing technique much closer to the Murano tradition than to the known logic of the crystal. A crystal, ultimately by philosophy, technique and tradition definitely unique. In 1952, at the end of the Murano experience, which, as we said, will forever shape the production technique of the company, Livellara, which has played an active role as a trading company, moves to Milan. The first Milanese headquarters in Viale Certosa remained active until 1964, when Livellara moved to its current location in Via Bovisasca, buying the buildings of a former oil mill, the Balestrini, and thus with administrative headquarters, warehouse, furnaces, tempera, glass master in a very interesting building, witness to what today we can call industrial archeology, the result of a culture and an era that takes us back to the origins of the company. Finally, it seems important to us to emphasize that Livellara is definitely at the forefront of the prestigious production of table glass, due to its skills, the rigorous selection of pieces and the consequent very high standard of quality.
