The world-famous novel "The War of the Worlds" (1897) by the English writer and publicist Herbert Wells (1866-1946), one of the founders of the science fiction genre, has been screened many times, was the basis for the famous radio play of 1938 by the American director Orson Welles, and inspired subsequent generations of science fiction writers to create more and more new works about the struggle of civilizations. It first raised the theme of hostility between humans and aliens, and predicted wars using poison gas and lasers. "Chronicle" of the Martian attack on our planet is truly frightening and exciting.
The edition is accompanied by an article on the life and work of the author and comments. The cycle of illustrations by the famous Moscow artist Igor Oleinikov was created especially for the publishing house "Vita Nova" and is published for the first time.
