1980 marked the anniversary of the birth of St. Benedict.  To celebrate the event, a commemorative series of stamps were issued by multiple countries and were compiled to create a unique caligraphy-filled packet.  This is a  LIMITED EDITION  8-page portfolio (only 1000 total portfolios were produced) by Benedictine S.A., Fecamp, France, to honor the saint whose name graces one of its most distinguished products.
A 1980 issue of Philatelic Review (December 1980, Vol 5 No 65) describes the special issue in detail ( not included with purchase).  A total of 12 international stamps - Austria, Germany, Luxemburg, SanMarino, France and the Vatican) are presented with various details of the Saints life in a beautiful presentation. Each stamp sits freely unhinged behind a plastic cover.
A unique and limited edition addition to any philatelic collection...or a beautiful gift for the collector or history buff.
There are very minor marks on the packets in areas due to their age (43 years old!). A flat rate shipping applies to individual portfolios for US deliveries.

PLEASE NOTE: A total of 35 of the portfolios are available for sale and the seller will consider serious offers for the purchase of the entire lot. See other BULK listing.
