Alex is the son of the President of the United States, Ellen Claremont-Diaz, the American equivalent of a prince. He, his sister June, and the vice president's granddaughter Nora are the White House Trio, the closest analogue to the royal family. So when Ellen starts the election campaign, she realizes that she has to look for better assistants.
