This is an
Australian Race Game on a Red 78 RPM Vinyl Record.
It is an
Australian Pressing, "John Mystery's POPULAR Series"
Two races
"Doo-Dah Stakes and Doo-Dah Cup" by legendary race callers "Ken Howard and Cyril Angles".
Every
time you play the record there is a different winner.
As there
are two races, there has to be Two
Betting Posters, and,
so there
is.......can't bet on a horse if you don't know its name !!!
the
Doo-Dah Stakes has: Naughty Neddy, Windy Winnie, Knobbler, Wicked Harry, The
Bone Shaker and Carrot Top.
The Doo-Dah Cup has: Orange, Ferdie the Fox,
Willie the Pooh, Horrible Herbert, Baby Blimp and Sausage.
Extremely
rare to find with both original posters.
10 inch
Record
Each
betting platform on the posters measures 9in (23cm) square.
Speed:
78RPM
Weight
208g.
CONDITION -
The record is excellent and plays through, it has been played a
lot but there are no scratches just a tiny indentation on the 'Stakes' side,
half inch from the beginning, mentioned for accuracy of description.
The cover has seen better days, it was so dilapidated I decided to
laminate it to preserve it, it still looks tattered but it won't deteriorate
any further and you can handle it.
The two posters are both complete and have old sticky tape on the
folding corners.
The 'Cup" poster has hand writing to the back.
Scratched in the inner margin on the 'Stakes' race is P5141A and beneath that is a scratched signature "C Angles" crossed out and beneath another signature
"K Howard".
Scratched in the inner margin of the 'Cup' race is P5141B and
above that a scratched signature "C Angles".
Please Note: This is an 'As
Found' sale.
No doubt because
of his authorship interests, the label included children's records, as well as
jazz and ‘pops'.
