This is a restoration project for a 1940s, vintage, black, silk velvet day wear coat.  The coat is lined in silk.  It has shorter than normal sleeves and is very fitted.  It has two frog closures and has an "A" line skirt design.

The coat has some surface soil spots on the lower right hand side of the skirt panel at the bottom.  5-6 small spots.  There is a split at the armhole seam in the back about 2" long and another like it on the other armhole about 2" long.  There is a split in the velvet just to the right of the waistline frog.  It will need to be seamed.  There is slight crushing on the bodice right side about 3" in diameter.  It might be soil and possibly launder out.  Same with the spots on the lower skirt panel.  They all barely show but are there and will need dry cleaning.  The inside lining has a very large moisture stain from the armhole area down about 10" towards the waist area.  There is light moisture staining on the lower skirt back which would not photograph.  No big rips or tears.  Just the splits that have been noted.  Both frogs need stitching down as original stitches are loose.  No fraying in the frogs themselves.

The measurements of the coat taken laid flat and measured straight across are:

shoulder to shoulder 15 1/2"
chest 17" done up
waist 15" done up
hips 18"
shoulder to waist 15"
shoulder to hem 46"
sleeve length 15"

The coat is being sold as is for restoration.
