The Goddess of Mercy is very popular in the Buddhist theology. There was a long tradition in China to make pilgrimages to the many great temples and take stone rubbings as souvenirs.

This practice has long been outlawed but many acolytes have treasured their rubbings. So they are now very rare.

Made from very delicate paper like tissue with coal soot impressions (stabilized) this image is well for framing.

It has fold creases and few tears at top - see pictures.
