Brown cloth stamped in black and gilt. Boards show moderate wear and fraying along edges with general chewing. Binding is sound. Toning to endpapers, contemporary ownership inscription to preliminaries, and interior otherwise unmarked. A Very Good copy of this scarce history of Paris, New York, which begins by describing the experience of the town's first non-native settler, an enslaved man who ran away from his enslaver and attempted to possess a patch of land through "Squatter Sovereignty."
