Very occasional soil to textblock, else a Very Good or better copy in sturdy new binding.
Early (possibly the first) edition of this polemical pamphlet described by Howes as essentially part three to "Rights of Man." Indeed, much of the text here is devoted to describing and defending the publication of the first and second parts of that hugely influential tract. This title published by Thomas Clio Rickman (1761-1834), with whom Paine lodged while composing "Rights of Man." Both men eventually fled to France to evade imprisonment (see Rickman's entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography).
