CIVIL WAR ERA HORSE GIRTH STRAP - CIVILIAN? CONFEDERATE? NICE!
Tan with brown stripes woven cotton webbing girth strap/cinch. Design is very much like the Federal M1859 girth strap for McClellan saddles. No markings at all. Leather is in pretty good shape considering it's age and purpose. There's a crack in both sling loops, some fraying of the webbing. There is a leather strap missing in the center- you can see where it was from staining. Heavy iron hardware has a nice dark patina. Photos show condition and are the primary part of the description. Still flexible and displays  nicely. Measures 22" long X 3-3/4" in the center.
Girth straps from the CW era are rarely available due to useage and wear - survival rate wasn't good.
THIS COULD JUST BE CIVILIAN OR IT COULD BE A CONFEDERATE COPY.
