A very interesting and highly unusual set of Olympic Games related autographs from the International Olympic Committee Medical Commission Sub-Committee meeting in Brussels Belgium in 1977.

One of the signers is the original owner Professor Arnold Beckett ( see below ) and as shown he had addressed and mailed the cover to himself.

The other autographs comprise Dr A Direx of Belgium, Dr Robert Dugal of Canada, Professor Becket himself, an unidentified one and then Prince Alexandre de Merode of Belgium.

As followers of Olympic history will know if you were involved in Drug Testing at the Games you were never far from controversy and sadly over the years the Olympics has seen its share of allegations and cheating relating to performance enhancements.

The cover which is basically an envelope from the Brussels Hilton Hotel has 4 British stamps and 8th June 1977 postmarks, it is unsealed and inside is a folded piece of blan paper which I think was just there to slightly stiffen the envelope when it was posted.

Very good condition.

This cover was signed for and owned by Professor Arnold Beckett the IOC International Olympic Committee member who was a pioneer in Drug Testing in Sport and who was involved in testing Athletes at the highest levels before a falling out with the IOC caused him to ' switch sides ' and he began to represent Athletes he felt had been unfairly treated in drugs test related matters.

Professor Beckett amassed a large collection of autographs which was sold at a major London Sports Memorabilia sale and this is from that collection, I WILL PROVIDE COPIES OF MY AUCTION PAPERWORK TO ACT AS PROVENANCE that this is a genuine and original signature.

Please see my other listings which will include more items from the Beckett collection including many behind the scenes very scarce autographs.
