Historic information:

December 1st 1948, after a civil war, the Founding Board of the Second Republic made the decision to abolish the army, to create a climate of stability and confidence in the country and begin the process of building a new model. of State. As a symbolic act of the abolition of the army, the president of said Board, José Figueres Ferrer, demolished a battlement of the Bellavista Barracks. This decision was fundamental to build a civil and democratic society and promote a series of economic and social development policies.
