Precautions for replacing the shock absorber:

    • 1. When installing a new shock absorber, you should pay attention to whether the model matches, please pay attention to the matching model list before purchasing, and confirm whether the left and right are correct.
    • 2. Check the quality status of the new shock absorber, such as whether there is oil leakage in the appearance, etc., pay special attention to the surface of the piston not to be bumped.
    • 3. Professional tools must be used during installation, and the shock absorber must not be forcibly installed.
    • 4. Pay attention to whether the installation position between the shock absorber and the body and the car is correct.
    • 5. During the assembly process, be sure to protect the surface of the piston rod, and avoid using tools to pull the piston rod or bump or scratch the piston rod, otherwise the shock absorber will leak oil.
    • 6. All nuts should be new and tightened according to the specified parameters of the vehicle to ensure that the tightening torque of the connection part meets the specified parameters of the vehicle.
    • 7. When tightening the nuts of the connecting part, it should be carried out in the natural state of the tire and meet the specified parameters of the vehicle.

The hazard of a broken complete strut/shock absorber:

When driving, if the shock absorber assembly of the car wears out, the car may vibrate up and downbump back and forthshake left and right, and the front of the car will sway. As a result, the car will deviate to the outside of the curve when the car is making a sharp turn. Trend: When the turning radius of the car is large, the sense of direction is inaccurate, and the car has a tendency to sway; when the car passes on a bad road, the steering wheel can clearly perceive the front suspension vibration significantly increased; when the road is convex, the driver and passengers can feel dull The impact noise; the beating of the wheels when accelerating, resulting in slow acceleration and other problems.

How to check if the shock absorber is damaged:

    1. Oil leakage: Check the shock absorber through the wheel arch with a flashlight. When oil leakage is found outside the shock absorber, it indicates that the shock absorber has been damaged.
    1.  Abnormal noise: If the shock absorber makes an abnormal noise when the vehicle is driving on a bumpy road section, it is most likely that the shock absorber has been damaged.
    2.  Uneven tire wear: When the shock absorber is broken, the wheel will vibrate unevenly during driving. This will cause the wheels to tilt, which will cause serious wear on the part of the tire that touches the ground, while the untouched tires will not be affected, resulting in uneven wear over time.
    3.  Press the bumper firmly and then release it. If the car jumps 2 or 3 times, it means that the shock absorber is working well. If you keep nodding your head up and down and bow your waist, it will be broken if it looks very elastic.

    How to Change:

    Installation Steps:

    • First step

    1. Remove the tire, and place the removed tire on the ground steadily, with the outside side facing up, and put the tire screw on the tool c art
    2. Gradually remove the connecting rod screws, brake hose screws, and brake ABS cable. After removing the screws, arrange them and place them on the tool cart (Note: Be careful not to damage the oil pipe and ABS cable)
    3. Remove the half shaft nut and remove the automatic system. (Note: Fix the calipers reasonably and do not damage the tubing)
    4. Remove the direction lever (note: use a special tool to remove the ball head
    5. Remove the vehicle height sensor (note: remove carefully, do not damage)
    6. Remove the ball head of the lower control arm
    7. Remove the upper connecting bolts, and take out the shock absorber assembly and steering knuckle assembly together. (Note: Two people are required to cooperate to avoid damage to related parts after replacement)

    • Second step

    1. The shock absorber assembly of the original car has been disassembled, and the new shock absorber assembly has been replaced.
    2. Take out the new shock absorber assembly and compare it with the old one before installing it.
    3. Install the new shock absorber assembly on the steering knuckle assembly
    4. Assemble the shock absorber assembly and steering knuckle assembly back to the vehicle together.

    • Third Step

    1. Restore the ABS cable, tubing, and tie rod to their original positions.
    2. Restore all the automatic systems, and carefully check the oil pipes and other lines for interference.
    3. Assemble the tire to the car (Note: carefully tighten the tire bolts)

    Frequently Asked Questions:

1.What is the primary purpose of shock absorbers and struts?

The primary purpose of shock absorbers and struts are to maintain the tires in contact with the road surface.  If there were no shock absorbers or struts; the wheels would bounce constantly off the road surface. When the tire is not on the road surface; the driver does not have control of the vehicle.

The secondary purpose is to improve the ride of the vehicle for the driver and passengers.  This is where the ride control science dampens the movement of the tires and helps remove vibration.

2.Can worn shocks or struts cause my new tires to wear unevenly?

Absolutely: shocks and struts provide damping force to control tire movement. When the tires move excessively, they develop a “cupping” wear pattern that damages the tire.

Other factors such as incorrect air pressure, worn suspension components or improperly aligned steering also causes uneven tire wear.

3.What's the disadvantages of worn shocks?

There are two major disadvantages that begin to occur as your shocks (or struts) wear. First, as the shock’s ability to resist wheel & body movement diminishes, it becomes more difficult to control your vehicle. That becomes evident as quick-stopping distances increase and the driver has to compensate for conditions like body roll and nose-diving. The second is increased wear of every other related vehicle component. Since more suspension movement is allowed as the shocks wear, every attached part is subject to additional impacts and wear to those components occurs more quickly. The suspension springs, support arms, bushings, joints and wheel alignment all suffer. That translates to a shorter vehicle life, less vehicle satisfaction and additional repair expenses.

4.When do I need to replace worn shocks or struts?

There are four main reasons that determine when to replace them: 1) To upgrade performance; 2) to restore the vehicle’s designed performance (usually after 50,000 miles); 3) when the vehicle has excessive ride control conditions (i.e. nose dive, body roll, etc.); or 4) when the vehicle has a failed unit (i.e. dripping hydraulic fluid, tire cupping, excessive bounce, etc.).

5.What is a VIN and where can I find it?
The VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number, is a unique serial number located on your vehicle. This 17-digit number encodes information like the country of origin, the year it was built, the engine size, and other types of information. All cars on the road today will have the VIN located on the driver's side dash, visible through the lower windshield outside the vehicle. If this tag is blocked or is not visible, you can also find this number on your vehicle's registration.

6.What is an Engine ID and where can I find it?
Most engines will have a metal tab on the outside perimeter of the engine block containing the ID. Some vehicles may have the ID printed on the emissions label under the hood.
