DESCRIPTION

This finely executed silver articulated fish is realistically modelled in the form of a fish with an articulated body and standing on fins, allowing the position to be upright or laying flat. The hinged cover is the head and has a hook fastening.

Antique silver articulated fish spice box. These spice boxes were usually copies of a Georgian English design and were around the 1880s. Generally used as spice containers, they may also have been used by some gentlemen for storing their snuff.

HALLMARKS:
Unmarked but tested positive as silver.
