TSUBA Samurai Japanese Sword Guard Silver Gold Inlay Hanshan & Shide Tiger w Box

This is a tsuba with the signature of the artist "定常" (Sadatsune?).

Size: approximately 3.5inches in height, 3.3 inches in width
Weight: 8.7 ounces, giving it a substantial and weighty feel.

Hanshan and Shide Motif
This tsuba features engravings of two hermits, Hanshan and Shide, who are said to have lived at the Guoqing Temple on Mount Tiantai in China during the late Tang Dynasty.
Hanshan is considered an incarnation of Manjushri Bodhisattva, while Shide is considered an incarnation of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. Typically, illustrations of Hanshan show him with a sutra, while Shide is depicted with a broom.

Due to being stored at home, there are some scratches and stains.
