Albrecht Dürer was born in Nuremberg in 1471. He was the greatest artist of the German Renaissance. Dürer was unequalled in his artistic and technical execution of woodcuts and engravings who revolutionized the art of printmaking. One of his most famous works “Self-Portrait at Twenty-Eight” was created in 1500. It alludes to medieval representations of Jesus Christ.
