The Lickey Incline – On the Birmingham to Bristol Main line of British Railways

Sitting on what was previously the Midland Railway route of the Birmingham to Bristol line, rising with an approximate gradient of 1 in 37 over a distance of two miles is the Lickey incline from Bromsgrove to Blackwell. For the summit of Blackwell, Bromsgrove station provides banking assistance to trains travelling north towards Birmingham.
