This is a rare and fine piece of sterling silver flatware from William Rawlings Sobey, made in Exeter in 1846. The sugar tongs are beautifully crafted with the Medallion aka Etruscan aka Homeric pattern by Shiebler, a well-known brand in the antique silver industry. The composition is pure sterling silver (.925) and the maker's mark is clearly visible on the piece. Measuring 5 1/2" long and weighs 35 grams. Good condition.
