ANTIQUE model CAR MIDGET RACER w DRIVER "No 31" Kansas Toy & Novelty SLUSH MOLD

Based on a photo on the comprehensive website "Bill's Vintage Toy Garage" I am pretty certain this old model toy car is a Midget racer (marked "31" on both sides) made by Kansas Toy & Novelty Co. The car is described on the website as a slush mold toy. More internet research reveled that the Kansas Toy and Novelty Co. was started in 1923 by Arthus Haynes in Clifton, Kansas. It's believed it was Haynes who invented the slush cast toy process by accidentally dropping a recently poured mold.

This Midget racer is a matte gray metal color (a little darker gray than the photos indicate). There is the tiniest bit of dark red paint on the car's front axle. The racer is clean, no cracks to the body. The wheels roll easily but a little wonky.

This toy was an estate sale find in the basement of an old house in Kansas City. In the pictures is a similar car that has damage. I'm happy to send it along if the buyer of the Midget Racer would like to have it. Please inspect photos.
