A fine and unusually large Flight, Barr & Barr period Worcester porcelain cup and saucer richly decorated with one of their famous Japan inspired patterns. A leaning rock in the centre with a fence and bridge, all manner of flowers and trees and exotic birds all painted in a lavish mix of underglaze blue, pink, red, green, yellow and turquoise enamels and lots of gilding. The cup has a sharply pointed handle mounted with an acanthus leaf moulded thumb rest. This large size of cup of a later period is often termed a "breakfast" cup but this would have been used for chocolate. Impressed marks to both, c.1815-1820.

The saucer measures 16.2cm (6 3/8") wide and 2.8cm (1 1/8") high. The cup measure 10.7cm (4 3/16") rim to rim, 12.7cm (5") rim to handle and 6cm (2 3/8") high to the rim.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair and minimal handling wear bar a very small loss to the gilding on the underside of the handle.
