STAR WARS THE POWER OF THE FORCE Asst. 69760 (Kenner) 1997

This is a collectible action figure set that features a detailed replica of the speeder bike, a fast and agile vehicle used by the Imperial scouts and the Rebel Alliance in the Star Wars universe. The set also includes a 3.75 inch figure of Princess Leia Organa, one of the main characters and leaders of the Rebel Alliance, dressed in her Endor gear, a camouflage outfit that she wore during the Battle of Endor, the final confrontation between the Rebels and the Empire in Return of the Jedi. The figure and the vehicle were released in 1997 as part of the Power of the Force toy line by Kenner, a subsidiary of Hasbro, which revived the Star Wars action figure line after a hiatus of 10 years.

This initial release displayed a rocky background on the front photo that was replaced by a grassy background in later releases. The figure of Princess Leia has 8 points of articulation: swivel neck, swivel shoulders, swivel waist, swivel hips, swivel knees. The figure comes with two accessories: a removable poncho and a blaster. The figure can hold all the weapons in its hands, and can also sit on the speeder bike. The helmet of the figure is not removable, and the helmet strap is not sculpted. The speeder bike is a faithful reproduction of the vehicle seen in the movie, with a high level of detail and accuracy. The speeder bike has a movable handlebar, a seat for the figure, and has a spring loaded feature that ejects the figure and separates the vehicle into three different parts to simulate the battle on Endor. Princess Leia in Endor Gear was only available as a pack-in with the speeder bike, and not sold separately in the Power of the Force line.

The character of Princess Leia is one of the most iconic and influential heroes in the Star Wars saga, as well as in the history of cinema. Leia is the daughter of Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Knight who turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader, the ruthless enforcer of the Emperor, and Padmé Amidala, a former queen and senator of Naboo. Leia was adopted by Bail Organa, a senator and leader of Alderaan, and his wife Breha, who raised her as their own daughter. Leia inherited her mother’s courage and intelligence, and her father’s Force sensitivity and rebellious spirit. She became a princess of Alderaan, a member of the Imperial Senate, and an agent of the Rebel Alliance, a group of freedom fighters who opposed the tyranny of the Empire. She played a vital role in many battles and missions against the Empire, such as delivering the Death Star plans, leading the evacuation of Hoth, rescuing Han from Jabba the Hutt, and leading the band of fighters responsible for destroying the shield generator protecting the second Death Star.

In Return of the Jedi, Leia and her friends, Luke, Han, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2, embarked on a mission to rescue Han from the clutches of Jabba the Hutt, a notorious crime lord on Tatooine. Leia infiltrated Jabba’s palace disguised as a bounty hunter named Boushh, and freed Han from his carbonite prison. However, she was captured by Jabba, who made her his prisoner. Leia endured Jabba’s humiliation until Luke arrived and initiated a battle on Jabba’s sail barge. Leia seized the opportunity and strangled Jabba with her own chain, killing him and freeing herself. She then escaped with her friends on the Millennium Falcon, Han’s spaceship. Leia then joined the Rebel fleet, which was preparing to attack the second Death Star, a massive space station capable of destroying planets, that the Empire was constructing near the forest moon of Endor. Leia and her friends landed on Endor, where they met the Ewoks, a tribe of furry creatures who lived in harmony with nature. Leia befriended one of them, named Wicket, who helped her evade the Imperial scouts. Leia and her friends to distract the troops guarding the shield generator that protected the Death Star. Leia and her friends managed to destroy the shield generator, with the help of the Ewoks, who joined the fight against the Empire.

STAR WARS THE POWER OF THE FORCE was a toy line produced by Hasbro from 1995 to 2000, featuring characters, vehicles, and accessories from the original trilogy and the Expanded Universe. It was the first Star Wars action figure collection since the vintage line ended in 1985. The initial figures had a muscular look that was later toned down for more movie accuracy. The packaging design changed over the years, from orange to green to hologram to freeze frame. The toy line was well received by collectors and fans, and introduced many new characters and variations to the Star Wars universe.

Edges, corners and sides have wear visible in the photos with minor scratches on the gloss. Pack-in cover is clear with some warping and window has a small corner tear. Sealing tape is clear and intact with one edge having pealed back and re-applied
