Having seen someone on ebay selling 12" cuts of rail for £68 I thought I'd see if there is a market for lengths of flat bottom rail. The vendor asking £68 has cleaned, painted and polished the rail. No such finess here although we can cut to your desired length for £5 a cut. You can have it with or without fishbolt holes.

This rail weighs just under 1.5Kg an inch, so a 12" length will be about 18Kg. Collection from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway can be arranged by appointment, or if you live near one of our volunteers we may be able to get it to you.

I've set the price at £40 a length if you take a length as-is, but all sensible offers will be considered. We know what the scrap value is and clearly there is no point selling for less than that.

After our winter programme of works is complete I may have time to clean up and paint some 12" lengths as anvils and 6" lengths as door stops, possibly with felt on the bottom to protect hard floors. If you think you may be interested send me message.

I'm usually only at the railway once a week so I can't promise a quick turn around, but I can promise good communication. All net proceeds will go to The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway Trust, helping to keep this volunteer run heritage railway running. However, this is not through ebay's charitable listing scheme because that requires a PayPal just giving account which charges £20 a month regardless of whether it is used or not.

*** UPDATE - 24th March 2024 ***
I've now sold several lengths and it is clear that we have no need to go through the hassle of trying to post rail, so I am not offering that as an option. Clear communication is key, and you can see from the feedback so far that with flexibility on both sides we can make mutually convenient collection arrangements. Because this is a volunteer run railway and not a full time job we can't usually offer a quick turn around, but I can guarantee good communication and that you will not be messed around. Thanks to those who have bought so far, contributing to the running of this exceptional heritage railway.
