In 1976, American photographer Jim Britt took photographs of his older daughters. In 1984, Jim was preparing a portfolio and presenting it to several publishers for a book, when an editor at People magazine took an interest in his work and ran three pages of his photographs in the magazine.
In 1988, Jim was contacted by an unexpected company. After seeing his photograph in a magazine, the fashion brand Comme des Garcons used it in advertisements in fashion magazines worldwide, as well as in print materials for their clients. The advertisement was also used as the cover of a book of CDG's work published in 1998.
