Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker #69696 .00 (Tan Vest /  Brown Vest)

STAR WARS THE POWER OF THE FORCE Asst. 69570 Red Card (Kenner) 1996

This action figure depicts Luke Skywalker in his black Jedi outfit with his iconic green lightsaber and a removable cloak. It was released in 1996 as a part of the second wave of the Power of the Force line, which revived the Star Wars toy franchise after a long hiatus. The figure is from the initial release as designated by the tan or brown vest variant, the product number ending in .00 and the red card packaging. The was quickly changes to black even with the .00 production number making this variant one of the first major variants of the figure line and was highly sought after. The cardback of the entire line was switched to green with a holographic sticker not long after this initial release. It was also the same figure given out during the theater release of Return of the Jedi: Special Edition in 1997 but had a unique cardback.

Luke Skywalker was a Force-sensitive farm boy who became a legendary Jedi Master and a hero of the Rebel Alliance. He was  raised by his aunt and uncle on Tatooine, where he dreamed of joining the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire. His life changed when he met Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi who began to train him in the ways of the Force. Luke joined forces with Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO, and together they rescued Leia from the Death Star, where Luke also faced Vader for the first time. Luke then destroyed the Death Star with the help of the Force, becoming a hero of Yavin. He continued his training with Yoda, a wise Jedi Master who taught him more about the Force and the Jedi. Luke confronted Vader again on Bespin, where he lost his hand and his lightsaber, but refused to join him in the dark side. He later participated in the Battle of Endor, where he helped to destroy the second Death Star and redeem Darth Vader from Palpatine's influence, fulfilling his destiny as a Jedi. 

STAR WARS THE POWER OF THE FORCE was a toy line produced by Hasbro from 1995 to 2000, featuring characters, vehicles, and accessories from the original trilogy and the Expanded Universe. It was the first Star Wars action figure collection since the vintage line ended in 1985. The initial figures had a muscular look that was later toned down for more movie accuracy. The packaging design changed over the years, from orange to green to hologram to freeze frame. The toy line was well received by collectors and fans, and introduced many new characters and variations to the Star Wars universe.

Cardback:

Card lies flat with a slight warp, has minor sticker residue, a bottom right corner crease, slight spiderweb creasing on the back, light gloss scratches and imperfections visible in the photos.

Bubble Blister:

Blister is sealed, clear with minor wear, light scratches and compression creases on the inside blister bottom.
