Introduced
in 1905 as the Kodak Tank
Developer and known from 1908 as the Kodak Film Tank.
They were
extremely popular and produced in several sizes.
This one is a
3 1/2in Model “B”-2
US Patents
April 17 1900 to September 17 1907.
This small film
development system was developed by Kodak for the amateur photographer.
It was a small portable system which made the
development of film more accessible to the enthusiast.
This
is an interesting item and quite innovative and as such has historic and
scientific and research significance.
A
stained wooden rectangular box with Box Joint Corners and a lid which is loose
and sits inside a ridge.
There are two holes drilled in both the longer sides of the box.
The lid has “Film Kodak Tank” in
red and black text on it and there is a paper chart stuck to the underpart of
the lid.
The
interior of the box is painted black.
There
is a spool holder attached to one end of the box.
There
are ten loose items, two long prongs with Bakelite knobs, two small caps, a
similar length implement with a straight shaft and hooked section on the end, a
metal spool, a sheet of Glass, a bag of photographic paper in a moth eaten
cover and a cylinder tin containing a black cylinder roll of celluloid.
Kodak
film Tank on the lid of the box and the lid of the cylinder.
The
bottom of the cylinder has stamped around the outer rim, "Manufactured by
Eastman Kodak Co, Rochester NY. Pat Aug 26. 02. May 23 05, May 21 07, Sep 17
07".
Box Measures: 25.4cm x 15.4cm x
15cm high.
Weight of box and contents: 2026g.
CONDITION: Visually in good original used
condition.
The box and metalware are terrific!
The Paper Chart on the lid is
mostly worn.
The photographic paper is in a
moth eaten cover but the paper itself is wrapped in wax paper and in good
condition.
The Celluloid roll is brittle and
damaged, it is unusable.
Not unexpected as celluloid is
highly perishable.
Item is being sold in ‘As Found’
condition and is very collectable but unusable.
