What I have to offer for your viewing pleasure here is this beautiful antique Japanese lacquer letter box! This large antique Japanese lacquer ryoshibako / document box has a beautifully carved scene of two big red roses as its focal point with a small yellow breasted bird beneath them perched on the branches of cherry blossom tree. It is just gorgeous! It bears chop marks on the bottom. It is in good overall condition for its age with a lengthwise crack or split to the top layer of lacquer of the right corner of the cover. There are lengthwise cracks / splits to both corners on one side and there are various lacquer chips. All four corners of the interior tray are chipped. t measures 16-7/8" long by 13-3/16" wide, it sits 6-7/8" high / deep. The interior dimensions of the tray measure 14-3/16" long by 11-9/16" wide by 1-11/16" deep.
