Rare Antique German Conta & Boehme Jardiniere, Courting Couple & Swans, c1890

The porcelain factory in Pößneck (Poessneck) was established in 1790. From 1804, the factory was owned by Albrecht Wilhelm Ernst Conta and Christian Gotthelf Boehme.

This delightful Conta & Boehme centrepiece is an antique gem from Poessneck, Germany and dates to c1890. This piece is known as a jardinière, which is a planter, or flower box commonly made of ceramic. This particular example of an  Art Nouveau jardinière is made of porcelain and depicts a courting couple in pastel colours with gilt accents. The jardinière is decorated with a courting couple two swans and a putto (a cherub face with wings).

The piece is in reasonable condition with no cracks, but sadly the courting gent has lost his hands and both swans have a chip to the back of a wing feather tip. The enamelling is in good condition with minor wear, there is crazing. Please study the photos.

The piece measures approximately 32cm by 15cm by 20cm.

This piece is a great addition to any collection of Conta & Boehme.
