Notes:
  • "In 2000, Prescott Baston's son, Woody Baston discovered an overlooked box containing some of (his) father's old clay models that had never been completed.  One of these overlooked pieces was a figure of an old Scotsman standing wiht a walking stick while smoking his pipe.  No one knew the story behind this particular figurine.  For whom it was designed and why was it never completed?  This Scotsman represented, in an archetypical way, the elegance and style of Prescott Baston.  Woody decided that this attractive figurine deserved a far better fate than to languish in its unfinished state.  He repaired and finished it and had it cast into two versions, one as a limited edition with a larger base and a second version with a standard Sebastian-style base.  The same basic techniques first used by his father six decades before were employed once again.  Woody and his wife Margery went to work painting each and every piece themselves.  A naming contest among Sebastian collectors produced many imaginative suggestions but none that satisfied the artist.  Thus we have The Scotsman today as SML-720 and SML-720A, a Sebastian Figurine created over two generations.
