Firstly, there is a lack of organized teachings or doctrines associated with village cults and worship. These deities do not have intricate philosophical systems supporting them. Additionally, the Dravidian people have limited literary traditions, and their religious practices are not accompanied by written scriptures like the Vedas. Instead, their history is preserved through fragmented legends that are orally transmitted by itinerant Singers during festivals and rituals. The Singers rely on their memory to recite these stories, as they are often unable to read. Although some legends are written on palmyra palm leaf books, these texts are closely guarded.
