These maps are from Cram's Universal Atlas published in 1894. Note that there are maps on both sides of each page. The maps are approximately 11.5 x 14 inches in size.

The maps will be shipped in a cardboard envelope.  See photos of the cardboard envelope above.

The cardboard envelope looks like it should be able to hold up to three maps, thus reducing shipping costs.

George F. Cram founded his company in 1869. Initially he published state maps and eventually entered the atlas field. He developed the technically complex business of atlas production and specialized in producing those that reached the widest audience possible. As the literacy rate rose in 19th century America, so did the market for atlases, which provided a compendium of information about the country and the wider world.
