First Nuclear Reactor Power Display--Fort Belvoir, Va.--Here's a model of the first nuclear reactor power plant under construction by the Army Engineer's Corps at Fort Belvoir, Va. The "package" reactor is a joint project of the Atomic Energy Commission and the Department of Defense. It will be the first nuclear reactor designed to provide power and heat for military requirements in remote areas where it is too costly to transport conventional fuels. Photo measures 10.5 x 8 inches. Photo Is dated 1956.
