18th Century Blown Glass Enameled Stiegel Type Flask.

Folk art hand blown, and hand enameled polychrome decorated Stiegel colorless glass flask. Origin is probably 18th century Bohemia. The bottle has a rectangular base with cut corners and has a pontil scar on the base. A feather and floral design is beautifully done with strong colors. The screw cap on the pewter threaded top is missing. The flask is in very good condition with no chips or fractures.

Early in the 16th century, Bohemia came under Habsburg control. Unhappiness about this tightening control led to the Thirty Years' War in 1618 that spread through Europe. The Dark Ages descended on the kingdom and lasted from 1620 until late in the 18th century.
