24 feet of black braided nylon cord, 1.5mm in size which is recommended for "Thick" or "Heavy" diameter (.063"/1.5mm)

Braided nylon cord is perfect for many applications and is superior to twisted cord which can unravel and become frayed.  Any cord, when subjected to friction should possess reasonable resistance to abrasion.  This braided nylon cord performs excellently in this respect.

A very important property for cord is that it have a high coefficient of friction.  This requires that the cord should not become smooth or slick during use.  The type of thread used for the braid, the diameter of the strands and the method of braiding determine its performance and life in this respect.

Recent feedback:  Great clock weight chord. Works great on 1798 long clock. Thanks.

Clock weight cord is a thin, strong cord that is used to suspend the weights in a mechanical clock. Mechanical clocks use weights to power their movements, and the weight cord is an essential component in ensuring that the weights are suspended securely and can move freely.

Clock weight cord is typically made of high-quality, durable materials such as braided nylon or cotton, and is designed to withstand the weight of the clock's mechanisms and maintain its strength and flexibility over time. The cord is typically attached to the clock's weight and then passed over a pulley before being secured to the clock's mechanism.

Over time, clock weight cord can become worn or frayed, which can cause the weights to become stuck or unevenly balanced. This can affect the clock's accuracy and prevent it from keeping accurate time. When this happens, the weight cord will need to be replaced, which is a relatively simple process that can be performed by a skilled clockmaker or hobbyist.

Overall, clock weight cord is an essential component in the operation of a mechanical clock, ensuring that the clock's weights are suspended securely and can move freely to power the clock's mechanisms and keep accurate time.
