16-PC NYMPHENBURG #982 PERL GOLD
ESPRESSO DEMITASSE SET

Available for purchase is a VERY RARE espresso demitasse set made by the Nymphenburg Porzellan Manufactory in Bavaria, Germany. The pattern is #982, a variation of the "Perl Gold" (or "Pearl Gold") design that is decorated with hand-painted "Dresden flowers". Nymphenburg's popular Perl pattern is characterized by a beaded pearl-like edge and a 12-sided dodecagon shape.

Inspired by the clear stylistic elements of the Louis XVI period, sculptor Dominikus Auliczek designed this classic "Perl" dinner service for Nymphenburg in 1793. The design is perhaps the single most iconic service in Nymphenburg's history and was considered so exquisite that for over 100 years it was reserved exclusively for the Bavarian royal family. It was the first dinner service in Europe to have a dodecagonal shape. The pattern also incorporates three-dimensional acanthus leaves into the design, a classic art and architecture motif that Auliczek observed during his travels through Italy.

The set includes the following 16 pieces:

Espresso Coffee Pot - 6 3/4" to top of lid finial - capacity approx. 2 cups
Covered Sugar Bowl - 3 1/4" to top of lid finial - 3 5/8" diameter
Creamer - 2 1/4" tall
Oval Tray - 9" long, 5 3/4" wide
6 Demitasse Cups - 1 5/8" tall, 3" diameter
6 Saucers - 4 1/2" wide

The flowers decorating all of the pieces are hand-painted and unique. The pearl rim is enhanced with 24K gold highlights. The acanthus leaves on the body of each piece are also trimmed in gold. The underside of the base is marked with a green or black Nymphenburg shield and crown logo first used in 1910, as well as the hand-painted pattern number.

Established in 1747, Nymphenburg is known for its relentless commitment to craftsmanship and its sustained collaboration with the premier designers and artists of every era. One of the world's finest creators of porcelain, Nymphenburg has served generations of royalty and its porcelain is immortalized in museums and design collections. I purchased this set at an estate sale, along with some other pieces in this pattern that I'm selling separately (please see my other listings).

Condition of this Nymphenburg #982 demitasse set is EXCELLENT with no chips, cracks, or fleabites. The gold decoration is also in great shape with minor wear in a few places. This set has obviously been well cared for and appears to have been used very little. It looks fantastic and would make a fine addition to any #982 Perl table service. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself. I'm confident you'll be very pleased with this purchase.

If you collect Nymphenburg porcelain, particularly the #982 Perl pattern, don't miss your opportunity to purchase this offering. The demitasse items in this pattern are very hard-to-find and rarely become available for sale. My BUY IT Now price of only $1,399 is a bargain for this large set.
