Available for purchase is a RARE serving bowl made by the Nymphenburg Porzellan Manufactory in Bavaria, Germany. The pattern is #2272, a variation of the "Perl" (or "Pearl") design that is decorated with hand-painted "Dresden flowers" and has purple beads. Nymphenburg's popular Perl pattern is characterized by a beaded pearl-like edge and a 12-sided dodecagon shape.

Inspired by the clear stylistic elements of the Louis XVI period, sculptor Dominikus Auliczek designed this classic "Perl" dinner service for Nymphenburg in 1793. The design is perhaps the single most iconic service in Nymphenburg's history and was considered so exquisite that for over 100 years it was reserved exclusively for the Bavarian royal family. It was the first dinner service in Europe to have a dodecagonal shape.

  The bowl measures about 7 3/8" wide and 3 1/2" deep. The flower decorations are all hand-painted and unique. The beads are painted purple and the base has a thin line of matching purple trim. The underside of the base is marked with a black Nymphenburg shield and crown logo first used in 1910, as well as the hand-painted pattern number.

Established in 1747, Nymphenburg is known for its relentless commitment to craftsmanship and its sustained collaboration with the premier designers and artists of every era. One of the world's finest creators of porcelain, Nymphenburg has served generations of royalty and its porcelain is immortalized in museums and design collections. I purchased this bowl at an estate sale, along with some other Nymphenburg pieces that I'm selling separately (please see my other listings).

Condition of this Nymphenburg #2272 serving bowl is EXCELLENT with no chips, cracks, or fleabites. This piece has obviously been well cared for and appears to have been used very little. It looks fantastic and would make a fine addition to any Perl table service. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself.
