CONDEMNED TO LIVE

A PANZER ARTILLERYMAN’S FIVE-FRONT WAR

(FRANZ A.P. FRISCH & WILBUR D. JONES, Jr.)

An account of what it was like to serve in the German Army by a common soldier who served throughout the war in heavy artillery.  Mr Frisch provides insight into the life and culture of the ordinary German soldier during WW2.  He describes the conditions, miseries, personal interactions, fears, and dreams he experienced throughout his service, which included two years in an Italian P.o.W. camp.

This account benefits from the dozens of photographs the author took during his years of service in Poland, France, the Soviet Union, Sicily, and Italy.  A superb illustration of the life of a common soldier.

This 2000 United States publication 1st edition paperback book is in excellent, “shop bought new” condition throughout and is unread.  This book is difficult to find in the UK; especially in this condition.  There are only minimal signs of wear to the cover pages in the form of very minor bumps to the edges and corners (see photograph).  All pages are present, tightly bound, and free from tears, creases, and marks.  The book runs to 156 pages (23cm x 15cm) and is very well illustrated with maps and photographs throughout.
