Copeland Spode, Cracked Ice and Prunus Side Plates 7.5” Circa 1932 Set of 2 (B) This is pattern #637556.

This version of the pattern dates as early as 1914 (Pattern #637556). Typically these pieces have an impressed mark indicating the year it was made however, this piece does not have one.  The original Cracked Ice and Prunus pieces go back to the 1820's where pattern covered all visible areas (not solely on the rim).

At the time of this posting I have 3 different size dishes, a complete sauce tureen and another covered dish piece all obtained from the same estate. I am selling 3 sets of 2 of this size (7.5"). Each pair has its own set of pictures so you can see the condition of the plates you are buying.

The original inspiration for this pattern was derived from an 18th century Chinese Porcelain design portraying the coming Chinese New Year. It portrayed the end of winter and the start of spring, with the cracking ice and Cherry Trees in bloom in the foreground.
