Art Deco in design than this one?

 

I don’t think so.

 

By one of the best makers as well

Mappin & Webb

(still going, bless them)

 

Simple, elegant and stylish, everything

the modern, well healed woman would

want at this time of post Depression

 and just Pre War (will be ever learn?)

 

It oozes sophiscation and quality.

 

Just look at the precise Engine Turned

design framed by the plain border band

 all fitted together with those tiny

 silver screws.

 

It’s a thing of great beauty and a

masterfully constructed piece

of dressing table kit.

 

Sterling silver and fully hallmarked

with beautiful clear London hallmarks

for 1938

and of course Mappin & Webb’s

mark for this period in time.

CONDITION

In good vintage/antique condition

with some signs of age and use.

 

General age related surface marks

as would be expected from an

old silver item and two dings

and a small dent on the back-

you can see these in the photos

of course but not that bad.

 

The mirror is bright and clear

with no deterioration in the

reflective qualities.

 

There are three tiny black

spots bottom left corner but

and a few other light surface

marks but not as obvious as a

 few of the photos make them look-

you don’t really see them at

all when you’re looking at

yourself.

 

Overall the condition is good.
