An exceptional example of this historic and highly desirable issue! The 1794 half dime is an exciting first year of draped bust type, as well as the first year of the denomination (unless one counts the famed 1792 half dime which is likely a trial piece). Outstandingly preserved, this piece stands out for its beautiful toning! Gold and sea-green bands frame violet, and dusky rose centers on both sides. The luster glitters beneath the patina and the surfaces are impressively struck with sharp detail for the issue. Delightfully clean with just one mentionable a well-hidden scrape between STATES and OF on the reverse. The in-hand eye appeal is absolutely mesmerizing! A terrific opportunity for the advanced collector, especially those who value colorful, original tonging. Less than two dozen PCGS examples have been graded finer. - Flowing Hair Half Dime
