Gary L. Adelman
1950 - 2001

Gary began drawing at an early age. Art was his favorite subject in school, and was his vocation for years. He lived in Nashville, TN, with his wife, Pam, two dogs and three cats. He attended Brescia College, in Owensboro, KY, and Ringling School of Art, in Sarasota, FL. Gary was a commercial artist for an ad agency and a member of the art department for a daily newspaper. For fifteen years, Gary worked in Nashville catering to the tourists visiting Music Row and the Opryland Hotel. A music row friend dubbed him "Van Gogh of Music Row" a fitting nickname for an artist in that location drawing sketches, caricatures and selling his numerous prints.

Gary was a self-taught portrait artist. He worked in pencil, charcoal, pastel, pen and ink, watercolor, oil and air brush. He specialized in portraits of people and pets drawn from photographic reference material, provided by the client.

Gary had many interests, in addition to his art. He was an avid tennis player, sports fan, computer student, "honey-do" expert, music lover, astronomy enthusiast, science fiction nut, grounds maintenance supervisor, dog trainer and cat pillow.

June 26, 2001, Gary shockingly and unexpectedly died of a heart attack at the age of 51.
