The exact wording on this Campana shaped wine cooler is “ NORWEST CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY ROSE BOWL WYTHENSHAWE FESTIVAL BRASS BAND CONTEST”. Clearly it is not a rose bowl, but a wine bottle cooler which is of good size standing just over 10 inches high. It is not dated but judging from the good quality of the plating I would think it is 1940s or thereabouts. There are a couple of extremely small dents as shown but all in all this old wine cooler is in very good useable condition and is an item of great local and cultural interest to Wythenshawe also. It is marked inside its base, “Yeoman Silver Plate Made in England”. Plating is all good although would still polish to another level. I have improved it a lot from the neglected black tarnished state that it was in when I bought it and the interior will probably remain dull as shown. I kind of hope that this lovely old relic representing Wythenshawe’s great historic culture of colliery and youth brass bands from the area might find its way home. Thoroughly useable domestically or in a commercial establishment such as one of the many pubs and restaurants in the area around Wythenshawe, Tatton etc
