BIOGRAPHY: Pat Rocco (1934-2015) - Pioneering gay rights activist, LGBT civil rights pioneer and filmmaker and founder of LA Pride. Rocco produced short-form gay films in the 1960s that were widely embraced by the gay community and received positive reviews from the mainstream press for their uplifting portrayal of gay romance and love. This included the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune -- all of whom praised the film maker and provided among the first reviews of his gay cinematic works.  In addition to his gay romance film works, Rocco also documented life in the gay subculture of Southern California and Hawaii during the 1960's and the discrimination they had to endure in the Post War era. His archives are held by the UCLA Film & Television Archive, Harvard and New York University.
