This is a fantastic old set of 6 volumes of the book "The History of the Decline & Fall of the Roman Empire" by Edward Gibbon. 

These "Gibbon's Rome" books are beautifully decorated hardcovers, published in 1880..143 years ago!  

The condition of the books are, in our opinion - remarkable for their age - however, they are very old, so there is going to be cover wear, paper aging, etc.  The Vol 1 cover seems to have a little more wear, with a rip on the back cover- see pic.  There are 2 copies of Vol 2...the reason is that one is in very poor condition with heavy staining, included in case you prefer to have it.  The second Vol 2 is a replacement copy - with an inside inscription/label and does not have the 1880 publication date, perhaps a little less wear or fading (otherwise seems the same to us?), comparison pics included.

Books measure about 7 3/4" x 5 3/8".  Please review pics/zoom as additional description, no refund or return.  Domestic shipping will include signature delivery.
