LaFontaine Classics is thrilled to offer this beautiful 1966 Impala SS 427/425hp 4 speed for sale.
These full sized hot-rods are getting difficult to find, and to find one of this quality is extremely unusual. This example is a rare, numbers matching L72 optioned SS that has gone through an extensive nut and bolt, frame-off restoration with no expense spared.
Under the hood you will find the flagship engine for 1966 the powerful L72 427 cubic inch big block Chevy pumping out 425 factory rated horsepower. The engine was completely rebuilt to OEM specifications using the correct components, from the 4-bolt main iron block, all the way up to the correct Holley 4-barrel carburetor. Sending all of that power rearward is a Muncie M21 close ratio 4 speed transmission that was also completely gone through and rebuilt to factory specs to handle all of that power. Rounding out the drivetrain is the strongest rear end offered by Chevrolet in 1966 the GM 12 bolt. Equipped with 8 7/8 diameter ring gear, 30 spline axles, and a locking differential, this was the best the factory had to offer and it held up well in all conditions.
The car was completely disassembled, the body removed from the frame and a full frame off restoration was performed during prior ownership. The frame was media blasted and painted the factory correct semi-gloss black. The body was put on a rotisserie and brought back to like new condition, then sprayed in Marina Blue, or paint code FF as appears on the firewall trim tag.
Because the Impala was in such good condition to start with, many of the body moldings, trim pieces and light lenses were reused. If any components had any signs of wear or fading, brand new parts were sourced and installed. All weather-stripping has been replaced along with the door seals as needed. All emblems on the exterior are in great condition with the 427 badges showing off what's under the hood.
Sitting in the driver's seat fills you with confidence knowing there are only a few rivals capable of conquering this L72 equipped, full size muscle machine. The interior provides tons of room, and is very comfortable, making longs trips very enjoyable. Every seat has been restored and covered with new interior color code 844 Bright Blue seat covers. The remainder of the interior was fully restored to exact factory specifications and looks like it came off the showroom floor.
If you are in the market for a muscle car and want something a little different, this 1966 Impala SS 427 might be for you. This is the car that will draw a crowd wherever it goes. It's a rare piece of muscle car history and it's available now. Call us today for more information at855-877-6814! or Email:

ABOUT LAFONTAINE CLASSIC CARS

With a deep passion for all things automotive, LaFontaine Classic Cars celebrates the storied automotive heritage of the Motor City and looks to make the classic car of your dreams a reality. Founded in 1980, LaFontaine Automotive Group is an award-winning, nationally recognized dealer with 39 franchises and 18 Michigan locations.

Michael LaFontaine Sr. and his two grandsons, Zackary and Mackenzie Hinsperger, founded LaFontaine Classic Cars together, and the sense of family runs deep in our classic car dealership. Our mission is to provide a personalized classic car buying experience while building lasting relationships that strengthen our community. LaFontaine Classic Cars offers guests an unmatched offering of iconic classic vehicles from weekend cruisers to Concours-quality show vehicles. We understand what classic car enthusiasts are searching for, and we are dedicated to ensuring they can find it at our classic car dealership.

Just prior to Maureen LaFontaine’s passing, the matriarch of LaFontaine Automotive Group, the building in downtown Milford, Michigan became available. It was the ideal location to launch LaFontaine Classic Cars. Besides offering attention to detail and automotive nostalgia throughout, the building is a tribute to Maureen and her everlasting legacy.

Michael Sr. commented, “This area is perfect for us as we have a lot of roots in Milford and absolutely love this quaint downtown. We look forward to welcoming fellow automotive enthusiasts through our showroom doors and they can expect to receive the same Family Deal feeling people have come to expect at any of our other dealerships. It’s all about personalizing the experience and having fun at the same time.”
