Ordnance Survey - Quarter Inch - Midlands Sheet 8 4th Ed. 1946

Offered for sale is the fourth edition of number 8 of a series of 12 Ordnance Survey Maps printed by Ordnance Survey in the 1940s.

Number 8 covers the Midlands and stretches from North West London in the south to Birmingham, Leicester and Peterborough in the north.

The key to the map includes Main Roads with Ministry of Transport Numbers, other metalled roads, Roman Roads, Pipelines (showing the direction of water flow), national boundaries, battle sites, altitudes in feet, contours, submarine contours, railways, Mineral Lines and Tramways, churches or chapels with tower or spire, windmills, lighthouses, woods, canals, lightships, Sea coast and marshes.

These maps from the early post war period are great for comparing the UK countryside and infrastructure against more modern maps of today to see how we have progressed (or stepped backwards depending on your point of view!)

The condition of the map is very good to near fine with no marks or inscriptions. There is just very slight rubbing on the extremities.

Postage to the UK is free and the map will be sent in a stiffened envelope and packed securely.

If you purchase from an overseas location you will be subject to the usual costs associated with the ebay Global Shipping program.

Thanks for looking!
