When the giant egg of the butterfly deity Mothra washes up on the Japanese coast after a storm, windy businessmen immediately get involved. Although some journalists try to help the dwarf girls from Mothra's home island get the egg back, Mothra's offspring becomes a subject of speculation. When Godzilla suddenly appears, chaos is complete. The adult Mothra soon intervenes to protect her egg, but she is already old and has little to do against the radioactive lizard.
