Pearl S Buck RARE China Gold (No English book ever published) China Sky - Dutch translation 1948

This is a lot of two Pearl S Buck books in Dutch. Het Goud Van China. De Hemel Van China. If you know someone who loves Pearl S. Buck books, they most likely do not have these books in their collection. They are beautiful books with a red dragon on the cover and a spine accented with gold. These books do not have dust jackets. I do not know if they were ever available with dust jackets.

The first book is extremely rare. It is China Gold. This novel was published in English in a serialized format in Collier's magazine in 1942. It was never published in book form in English. The only copies in book form are German and Dutch translations. This book is the first edition of the Dutch translation. The title in Dutch is Het Goud Van China. It was published in 1948. It was translated by Frits Francken.

The second book is China Sky. The title is De Hemel Van China in Dutch. It was published in 1948. It is the first edition of the Dutch translation. It was translated by Frits Francken.

Both books have some shelf wear. Both have some fraying at the top and bottom edges of the spine. They both have pages that are brownish-yellow due to age. 1948 was right after the war, and the quality of the paper might not have been as good as before the war or in later years after the war. Because of this the pages look and feel a bit different than modern book pages. A few of the pages are bent slightly at the corner. The first page inside the front cover and the back cover have an odd brownish mottling. The cover of China Gold is a bit more yellow than the cover of China Sky. The cover of China Sky seems to have darkened a bit more.
