The division saw action on all fronts of the Western European Theater.  It landed on the West Coast of French Morocco as part of Operation Torch.  It landed in Sicily fighting toward Messina. Landing in Italy, fought its way to Cassino.  It was landed at Anzio to envelope the Germans and stood its ground against 3 German Divisions and fought its way to Rome.

It attacked the Southern Coast of France attacking northward to Strasbourg and relieved the Colmar Pocket.

It crossed into Germany fought its way across southern Germany to Nurnberg and ended the war in Salzberg, Austria.
