The German 3-Ton Cargo Truck was the workhorse of the German Army, with nearly 140,000 of them produced by Opel, these legendary German light trucks were used extensively throughout Europe from mid 1930s and throughout WWII and beyond. Reliable and easy to repair, the Cargo Truck was a multi-purpose backbone vehicle for the German army that became a beloved symbol of its success.

 

Opel Kfz.305 Blitz Truck

Designed as a series of light and middle-weight trucks for various civilian and military purposes, the Opel Blitz was produced between 1930 and 1975 but is best known for its role in WWII. This 3-ton workhorse served in all German theatres; it carried troops and supplies and was also used as a service vehicle for the Messerschmitt Me 323. This truck's history is somewhat controversial because of the role GM played in its development-at the time, Opel was a subsidiary of the American manufacturer. The Opel Blitz appeared in the film "Raiders of the Lost Ark," and remains one of the symbols of Nazi Germany during the war.

Forces of Valor's 1:32 scale Opel Kfz.305 Blitz truck is constructed with a blend of diecast metal and plastic components and is rich in scale detail. The cab is constructed in diecast metal, which provides for most of the model's weight. Side mirrors, headlights and field equipment are separately attached and constructed in plastic for maximum detail. The rear cargo area is features simulated wood grain patterns, and the removable cover has hand-painted window straps and the look and feel of canvas material stretched over support beams. The drive train is meticulously recreated, and equipment boxes, rack and a spare tire are mounted under the bed.
