This beautiful, Apache Beaded Bag is made of a soft, brain tanned hide and is thread sewn by hand with spot and lazy stitched beadwork decoration using dark blue, chalk white, Cheyenne pink, translucent amber, medium blue and red white-heart colored glass seed beads. The Bag is beaded on both sides with a circle based design on the front and arch based design on the back. There is a rather long, hand cut rawhide fringe which is very well preserved. The Bag retains its original rawhide drawstring at the top.

    This very rare and original, ca1890’s Apache Bead Decorated Belt Pouch / Bag is in very good to excellent condition. All of the hide elements are well preserved – sound, soft and supple with some soiling, light surface wear and a few small spots of staining. The beadwork is beautiful and the beading on the front and rear panels is very well preserved with no bead loss and no repairs of any kind. The rawhide fringe is also well preserved with some soiling as can be seen in the scans below. All elements of the Bag are original and there has been no repairs or restorations. Overall this outstanding Apache Bag is very well preserved and displays beautifully.
